MPIOs new built-in flash memory movie player The MPIO-one (part #FG200) has a built-in color EL (electroluminescent) display and can play back MPEG-4 files as well as MP3 and WMA files. It is available in 3 different sizes, 256MB, 512MB and 1GB.

The outer dimensions of the MPIO-one are 32x15x55mm with a weight of 34.5 grams. As mentioned above, the MPIO-one can play back MP3/WMA as well as OGG music files, in addition to playing back MPEG-4 video. It has a built-in 1.04 inch color EL display.

The EL display can display in 65,000 colors with a resolution of 96x64 pixels. MPEG-4 files are encoded to the MPIO-one with included software called Transcoder. The Transcoder software encodes AVI, MPEG, WMV and ASF files to a resolution of 96x64 pixels for viewing on the MPIO-one.

The included earphones adopt the Sennheiser MX400 standard. The bit rates for the supported sound formats are as follows: MP3 8~320kbps and WMA 32~192kbps. There is also support for DRM on VBR and WMA files. The MPIO-one connects to a PC via a USB 2.0 interface and acts as a USB storage class device. Further, no special software is needed to transfer songs to the device. Songs can be transferred via Windows Media Player if desired and it also supports m3u play lists.

The MPIO-one supports ID3 tags and with the included kanji can display in Japanese. Moreover, the MPIO-one can display ID3 tags in Korean, Chinese and 55 other languages. The internal menus of the device also support Japanese as well as 8 other languages.

The MPIO-one can also display text and still pictures. The device can also act as a USB host and can store pictures directly from a camera or card reader. When used as a USB host, it uses a USB 1.1 interface.

If all the above weren’t enough for you, it also has a built-in mic/line in jack and an FM tuner, and can record from the FM tuner in stereo WMA format. There’s also a timer-recording function. Additionally, there’s a 9 preset equalizer that includes settings like classic, pop and rock. There are also three sound effect settings: 3D effect, treble and dynamic bass.

To top it all off, a puzzle game is built-in as well as a screensaver. The MPIO-one is powered by an internal rechargeable lithium battery. The MPIO-one has a maximum playback time of 15 hours for sound files and 2 hours for MPEG-4 files.
